1TB SSD for laptop – Review 2021 (Buying Guide) Hi everyone. Hope you guys are staying safe indoors. This SSD is available worldwide. So without any delay, let’s start the unboxing. I have 2 products here: SSD and a card reader. The card reader is a gift from SanDisk, with an adorable note so Thank You to SanDisk for that.
Although I have a USB-C dock, this compact SD reader will come in handy while travelling. Now, I have the SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD. I’ll talk about another version, Extreme Pro, towards the end of this blog.
With high-speed storage and editing, this product is perfect for all creative users and professionals. With great read and write speeds, you don’t have to worry about the slowness of your hard drive. I have the 550 MB/s read speed and 1TB capacity version. The min capacity is 250GB and the max is 2TB.
Let’s take a look at the SSD. I have an Airpods Pro for comparison. The size is just a little bit bigger. The whole in the top corner is for you to attach the given carabiner to this rugged SSD and take it anywhere. Its IP55 rating means this SSD can withstand rain, dust, and spills. It’s also shock and vibration resistant.
So even if you’re stuck in rain and the SSD falls from a height of 6 ft, you can be sure your data is still safe. Attach the rugged SSD to your bracelet or bag using the carabiner. It’s water, dust, shock, and vibration resistant so it’s always safe.
Before we get to the speed test, let’s look at the other contents. You get a product manual and a USB-C cable to connect the SSD to your computer. In case, your laptop doesn’t have a USB-C port, SanDisk also provides you with a USB-C to USB-A adapter.
This completes the contents. I had checked SSD on the computer. Connect the SSD to the computer. First of all, pick the drive: Extreme SSD. Then, open. Start Speed Test. So you have 466.1MB/s write speed and 523MB/s read speed. Although SanDisk claims 550MB/s read speed, 523 isn’t bad.
Now, we have also checked the transfer speed. I had 2 files up to almost 8 GB. We’ve transferred both these files to the SSD. I set my timer ready to go to check the transfer time of the 8 GB files to the SSD.
So it took 15 seconds to transfer 8 GB. Not bad at all! Read and write speeds are also great. I’ve been using this SSD for a few days now. And it’s a tried and tested product. The Sandisk Extreme Portable SSD is a top-5 product of 2021. This compact SSD is easy and light to carry. In today’s world, travelling light but convenient is necessary. You can carry it in your pocket or any small carrying bag.
But my opinion of these products is entirely mine. I would recommend this SSD to anyone who is looking for high-speed storage. The SSD with 1 TB capacity is priced at 108 USD, without tax. 500 GB SSD is priced at 88 USD.
This was the Sandisk Extreme Pro 1 TB version and the Indian price of Extreme 1 TB is 11,169 RS, without tax and the 500 GB are 6,599 RS. The extreme SSD is a very reliable product so I’d recommend it to anyone.
